St. Mary/Commerce Hotel

For this long time vacant structure, located at St. Mary’s & Commerce Street and the San Antonio River Walk, Douglas Architects, Inc. was hired by the land owner/investment group to determine redevelopment options for this unique, urban site. The proposed concept includes a 270,000 sf, $37,000,000 commercial, mixed-use development. The project’s program consists of a “signature boutique” River Walk hotel which includes a cafe, restaurant, street-level retail and hotel lobby, European spa, meeting spaces, and 125 luxury rooms.

Douglas Architects, Inc. successfully attained City of San Antonio Historic Design Review Commission approval for the full design concept, as well as partial demolition of past additions to the historic structure. Based on the planning completed by Douglas Architects, the property is currently being development as a Canopy Hotel, under the Hilton line of properties.
