Douglas Architects was founded in February of 2007 by Andrew Douglas and Melissa Douglas. Over the past decade DAI has completed award winning architectural and planning projects in San Antonio and Central Texas, as well as California and Chicago. DAI has a talented staff of designers, administrators and consultants who enjoy working together on projects and creating a spirit of collaboration. In 2013 Douglas Architects renovated, designed and developed their own adaptive mixed-use project and moved to 1320 E. Houston located on the near east side of downtown San Antonio.
Andrew and Melissa met while working in Cambridge, Massachusetts and attending the University of Texas at Austin. After almost eight years working in the Boston area for two internationally recognized firms, they decided to move back home to Texas and San Antonio in 1994. Both had the desire to work in an urban environment and do adaptive reuse, as well as assist their clients with design and planning efforts that were based in market realities, as well as good design, believing that the two must go hand in hand for projects to be successful.
Over the past several years, Douglas Architects has been the recipient of four Downtown’s Best Awards and has been recognized in local and regional publications for it’s design and planning contributions.
