Lighthouse for the Blind
The Lighthouse for the Blind, a non-profit organization providing rehab programs and employment opportunities for blind and visually impaired individuals, came to Douglas Architects, Inc. for assistance in renovating a recently-acquired 7,200 sf warehouse space. The building needed to be brought up to code to allow the Lighthouse to increase their overall capacity for fulfilling ongoing government contracts. The adaptive reuse of the warehouse involves a $200,000 renovation of the existing building for use of assembling garment pieces for various government agencies by the visually impaired. Douglas Architects, Inc. provided the design for the renovations necessary to bring the building up to code and assistance with Historic & Design Review Commission approval.
